berlins own steffen linck, a multi-instrumentalist known as monolink, announces his debut album amniotic, due april 20th via embassy of music subsidy embassy one. it is the experiential nature of monolink’s music that defies the muddy definition of modern live electronic music. armed with a singular blend of berlin underground culture with the pop-leaning sensibility of american electronica, steffen transports listeners into his own realm of sonic exploration. the music is pillared by emotive guitar tones, analog synth stabs and, for the first time, his own vocals acting as a singular point of departure for this budding talent. amniotic stands as monolinks first complete body of work, following his 2017 ep burning sun via sol selectas, and the end, a collaborative record with acid pauli in 2015.

following his work with swedish label comorbid records, stockholm native bård ericson aka boerd has signed with anjunadeep to release his latest mini-album, ‘static’. an accomplished musician, bård’s boerd project aims to reflect his own personal emotions and atmosphere. with a deft and delicate approach to composition, his music draws you in whilst shutting out the outside world. cutting his teeth from age 15 in the world of chiptune (composing via the means of 16-bit videogame consoles), bård quickly developed a taste for creating abstract music. and after a handful of eps and live shows across europe, he transitioned focus towards music that he felt better expressed his own place in the world. enter ‘boerd’. with influences ranging from burial, bibio and even aphex twin, the 26-year-old has developed a style that pushes the boundaries of atmospheric electronica with stunning attention to detail. building his sound from samples he records himself, ericson conjures a euphoric mix of subtle soundscapes that simultaneously breathe and play in awe.

san francisco in the late 1960. the hotbed of psychedelic and rock culture. the dead, joplin, jefferson airplane and a host of others all gaining mainstream acceptance for their acid tinged work. but the city and the surrounding bay area had so much more going for them. a liberal political outlook and a large african american and latino population, meant that musical and cultural reference points were wider and more easily assimilated there than (almost) anywhere else in the united states. two of the biggest groups to emerge from this scene were santana and sly and the family stone, with their melting pots of sound that took in jazz, soul, rock and latin influence. for a while they were two of the biggest acts in the united states and scores of local bands tried to follow in their footsteps. they were hard acts to follow and very few got to the stage of making a 45, never mind a whole lp. one of the best to do just that were leon’s creation, whose debut lp “this is the beginning” acid jazz are reissuing here. a native of san francisco leon patillo led the group, whose multi racial line-up echoed that of his heroes on the local scene. self contained and gigging locally they made their debut album at the tiny studio 10 who also custom pressed the album in extremely limited numbers the music is a perfect blend of acid soul, mixed with hippie sentiments that will get you dancing on the uptempo numbers such as the title track, ‘back roads’ – with its glorious harmonies and the soaring ‘power’. more thoughtful numbers such as ‘until you were gone’ or ‘love’ will touch your soul. so impressed was carlos santana that he eventually asked leon to join his band.

clash lion is a mix of three personalities shall ocin, terr and daniel watts. three artists with different musical backgrounds merging forces to create a truly eclectic and open-minded label. after the success of their first release from maetrik firmly putting this label in the spotlight, it was followed by releases from shall ocin and daniel watts. anna who started 2018 with the acclaimed‘hidden beauties ep on kompakt now comes back with a 3 track ep for clash lion. her debut on the label kicks off with suzi in transe, a roaring synth work drives this track into the deep and dark realms of techno, but with an acid element thrown in for good measure. ethereal yet brooding, impression is a track that grows and grows. its classical piano stab perfectly blends into the mix, keeping its dancefloor ready pace right to the end. 80s flare, break beat focused rhythms and an explosive synth riff. into the void is the most futuristic offbeat techno piece we have heard from anna, and makes for a standout new release with three varied and texturally interesting tracks.

jonah sharp & dj spun pair up as the loose control band to drop a punk-inspired single on rekids with remixes from label founder radio slave and shut boss ryan james ford. having released a large body of work as spacetime continuum (astralwerks) or alongside david moufang as reagenz (workshop), not to mention significant collaborations with the likes of terence mckenna, haruomi hosono and bill laswell, jonah sharp is unquestionably a highly respected producer. his seminal label reflective played an important role in the experimental ambient and techno scene during the ‘90s, whilst as a remixer he’s worked with music by nine inch nails, meat beat manifesto and matthew herbert. meanwhile, jason drummond has long been a commanding force within new yorks electronic music scene, such as running his prestigious warm up music series or his all night rong parties with regulars like dj harvey. hes also been djing and producing as dj spun for two decades, appearing on golf channel recordings as well as his own illustrious imprint rong music, which used to release music collaboratively with dfa. i dont understand sees a raw and uncompromising side to both artists as they layer a cacophony of murky bass, twisted melodies and mind-bending bleeps whilst drummonds turbulent vocals bellow throughout the mix. staying faithful to the original, radio slaves remix incorporates a heady rhythm with its rolling beat as screeching effects join a moody bassline. moving into techno territory, ryan james fords akihabara remix features rattling percussion and crystalline synths whilst his hope remix is built on an intricate drum sequence as soaring pads and echoing keys contrast with the originals piercing vocal.

after kicking off the year with releases by wheelman and general ludd, were very pleased to announce that naum gabo completes our recent trilogy of releases from glasgow based artists. alongside ivan smagghe, its no secret that optimo have been a huge influence around these parts and having released ivans smagghe & cross project on belters last year, its a huge honour to work with naum gabo - the production partnership of jonnie wilkes (jg wikes of optimo) and james savage (mastering engineer for optimo music). fittingly enough, naum gabo played live at the first ever optimo related parties we attended at the sub club back in 2005 and jonnies influential and supportive presence has been felt over the years as we started to become more involved in the glasgow scene and as the label developed. so it didnt require much thought to do this release before we had even heard these new naum gabo tracks they are absolute slammers of the highest order! really big release, bringing to our minds the likes of errorsmith. belters is a new club-focussed label brought to you by huntleys + palmers.

groove odyssey records are truly excited to release the debut album from our very own paris cesvette entitled celestial (my journey among stars). paris cesvette’s celestial (my journey among stars) is the audio memoirs of a producer and musician that from the very start has always been amongst great musical company. a creative soul, born into a home where music was the currency, her inquisitive nature and desire for knowledge had her studying her father’s record collection, embracing her mother’s passion for music and then, what happened after that, is what we hear today. her vision of combining the sounds she lived for, with the music inside of her is finally represented in one physical work. each song on celestial reflects a moment in paris’ journey and every artist sings each song with a greater purpose. on listening you will realise that every song was tailor-made for each star. paris believes that you get an artist at their best when you let them be the true artist they are. “my role as the producer and the visionary is that it’s my job to make their sound become our sound and among all of us we are like stars in a constellation, together we make one and that s what makes this celestial, my journey among stars complete.”

the resurgence of icelandic techno continues with the latest release on ae recordings, seeing bjarnar jonsson returning to his long standing ohm project alongside emergent talent kvadrant. the pair were last seen on kvadarant s kontakt label, and their production partnership is clearly still yielding quality, dubbed out techno in the finest scandinavian tradition. even if all the tracks are built with a steely techno focus to them, the synth work and sound design scattered throughout the tracks elevates this to a higher level, not least on the bubbling geisers of signal processing that course through the middle of grip.

last spotted on correspondants fourth annual collection, jennifer cardini and noura labbani return to yovavs majestic slice of cold wave theatre running wave and develop its universe on their ever-bubbling dischi autunno imprint. still as epic and dramatic as it ever was, its narrative is now galvanised by a typically dynamic edit from gerd janson (who also remixed yovavs last single on correspondant), three originals and one remix. railroad is an animated chip-like adventure with layers of leads cleverly interlaced around the lolloping lofi kicks file detective plays the consummate creeper as a slinky metallic beat suddenly melts into a sleazy, sneaky lead that keeps peeping over its shoulder space work closes the show on a cosmic high with such a strong emotional pull it could make sabres of paradise blush while brassica add crucial footnotes with uptempo breakbeat remix so elastic and euphoric it could flex a bicep or two. stunning, immersive and truly singular no one is doing it like yovav right now.

a year on from luigi tozzi and label head dino sabatinis collaborative manticora ep, outis return with a striking, singular solo work from tozzi. ecate ep sees the roman producer bringing three distinct slices of techno, each with its own set of subtleties and the crystal, adept sound design that defines tozzi’s work. spanning the a-side is ecate. this title track is rolling and hypnotic, with muscular, percussive bass. throughout the track, angelic chords come and go, washing the listener in euphoria. alongside, we hear a disorienting melody, grounded by the lightly swung four to the floor kick that gives this track an infectious groove. the flip opens with leto, which immediately defines itself as a club track with an unbroken but evolving set of percussion and a weighty kick. its around this kick that other elements build. we hear long, ringing, resonant string sounds, and a bell like melody morph and unfold as other percussive components come and go. the track falls away into atmospheric eeriness, which perfectly sets the stage for the eps finale. esperedes swung, panning drums give it a disorienting feeling of otherworldliness from the get go. this is before youre greeted by an alien, slightly dubbed out melody and a hanting backing drone that feels like a reference (perhaps in opposition) to the angelic chords of the eps first track. its on this closing track that tozzis delicate, expert sound design best shines through, and really has to be heard to be understood.

tom ellard is the creative force behind australian post-punk band severed heads. in 1982 he self-released two cassettes of solo material, “80s cheesecake” and “snappy carrion”. these cassettes document the transitional period between the early experimental severed heads’ albums “clean” and “blubberknife” before the start of something new with “since the accident”. with the advent of the then new roland tb-303 bass synthesizer, a machine synonymous with the acid house sound, tom began to write more beat driven material. the rhythms are made by a tr-808 drum machine, kawai s100f and sh-1 synthesizers, plus various televisions, radios, cassette decks and pedals. two songs from these cassettes would later appear on the b-side of the “dead eyes opened” single.

“world building” is a blissful and introspective mission into melancholy that wanders over terrain both familiar and unknown. bright and sparse melodies shimmer over icy landscapes, hewn with a careful composition and attention to the most minute detail. ghostly voices swell into symphonic chorus while an analogue rhythm section keeps an almost human-like groove. arguably his most complete work to date, “world building” is a satisfying listening experience with a strong narrative - an auditory tale of an epic journey with warmth and depth from one of europe’s most exciting producers. pressing on green marbled double vinyl.

new yorks marcos cabral steps up for his first full release on dimensions recordings, with the nature walk ep. following on from his epic prochainement masterpiece on dimensions 002, the ep provides a glimpse into the mind of a well-established and hugely respected artist. nature walk is a broad ep that demonstrates just why marcos records have been finding their way into a multitude of djs bags for the last fifteen years. from his work with jacques renault as runaway, and his coveted hamilton dance records output to his more recent deeper and darker leanings for leading labels such as clone, l.i.e.s. and mule musiq, marcos has quietly and studiously worked at developing an impressive catalogue which most folks who have brushed with house and techno will have heard, whether they know it or not. the ep provides a snapshot of some of the tastes and styles that marcos has experimented with over the years, the rolling, energetic and optimistic sounding, not quite house, not quite techno of wishful gives way to the brooding, dub techno of title track, nature walk. cape cod sees marcos in classic, house mode with a cut that could easily have dropped on nycs nu groove records, whereas rice a roni is a no nonsense nugget of twisted, grinding, acid. the ep rounds off with lets see how the light goes through it, a spacey hypnotic workout for the late hours and a fitting end to a stand out ep from the self proclaimed, hardest working man!

by day he guides lasers into position using precision equipment, at night he crafts raw house music. welcome to the unusual world of reflection port assembly. we got to know one another through a few brief, slurred encounters in the smoking area during the fabled forza italo night or at the aptly named gary’s gang. pretty soon it was clear that he had impeccable taste, like that record that featured coil and ice t. one sunny friday afternoon in june, he tore himself away from guiding the lasers and we met up in the city centre. the light breeze did nothing to dissuade the office workers from gathering outside the pub for sneaky post-work pints. surrounded a sea of grey and blue business attire, we agreed to make ‘retribution’ the second release on first cut. featuring three cuts, it spans house, electro, boogie and even some detroit techno influences. but ’retribution’ is more than the sum of these parts. unlike his precision-based day job it’s rough and imperfect, flawed but warm, messy and charming - like a snapshot of every day life in dublin.

the job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery. hologram man present himself as a entity, an entity that work functionally and chirurgically to implement hypnotic minimalism to entirely new depths levels of mind and sonic territories.

reaching its 15th release, amphia sees the return of cezar lazar’s double ep, intuitively called “archetypes”. known for his innovative approach both behind the decks and productions, cezar’s creative alter-ego enacts a variable puzzle with hard-edged sonic pieces laid out over five tracks, each with their own distinct acoustic palette. side a holds “equtime”. this side-long track envelops a stripped-down melody with perforated rhythmical pads, fleshed out with disconnected threads of vocals. side b is dedicated entirely to “badgervox”. displaying a weighty bass section alongside the shuffled percussion work, its intricate melody is integrated smoothly creating a unique soundscape. “thicken court” holds the first half of side c. sharp in its composition, it holds an assorted percussion ensemble and a collection of fizzy waveforms. they complement a thunder-like bass protagonist that holds the center stage. we continue with “boe dark”, where textures and sharp tones grow in layers upon layers creating tension. the apex is reached when modular timbres are hindered by sparse piano patterns, completing this electro-acoustic scenery. on the flipside, “wedmar” holds the key to our puzzle with its accurate four-to-the-floor feat. with a series of programmed overlapping organ vibes, the sound feels both piercing and intense, creating a sort of sensory impairment. “archetypes” displays cezar lazar s gentle subtleties and fluency in different dialects of idm.

we are not where we live, but the valley we built enjoyment through suffering. beauty in chaos. african ghost valley apply these principles to create their heavy doomsday electronics pulled in from the black bunker a d.i.y space under a multi-story car-park. separated from any scene on the surface, the record was put together by european / canadian duo childle grangier and gabriel ghebrezghi a partnership formed in the heat of heavily improvised recording sessions, where the pair would thrash out their versions of power electronics, industrial waste drops and rhythmic dub rumble to the cities homeless. keeping these raw fnal cuts away from any studio trickery, the microphone would be left on to archive feld recordings and wayward audio drops, capturing the hum and lifeblood of the bunker and the wheezing lungs of the dense concrete that surrounded them. titling this work colony, the album is a open-ended and multi-edged tool for agv to explore, allowing the listener to interpret the work as they see ft, bringing to mind images of corroded space settlements and the darkest recess of human history. you decide.

sacred summits returns after a two-year hiatus with an album of interpretations of the music of eric satie by acclaimed composer morgan fisher. active for over 50 years morgans career has moved from 60s number one hit wonders love affair, to 70s rocknroll keyboardist in mott the hoople, before finally on to 80s ambient, improvisation and soundtracks, working with the likes of yoko ono, haroumi hosono and dip in the pool. based in japan since the mid-80s, fishers long-standing admiration for erik satie (1866- 1925) led to these inside satie recordings. satie’s unique work as a precursor to artistic movements such as minimalism, surrealism and repetitive music are acknowledged but for long periods he was not given the accolades his music warranted. a strange, eccentric, surreal man, he was never as acclaimed as the established masters, but influenced not only the likes of debussy but also many of the dada artists. on this album morgan played his music freely after just a brief look at the scores. recorded in just three days, it features piano, melodica, synthesisers, and morgans favoured tape delay system. inside satie is one of the first albums i recorded in japan shortly after moving here in 1985. in three days i improvised on several of my favourite satie themes. mostly i played piano as well as the rich, analog-sounding yamaha gs-1 (precursor of the dx-7), and sometimes used long tape delays to build layers of sound. all the pieces were recorded in single takes no overdubs (no time!).

everything begins with changes, whether you re moving geographically or emotionally. aera’s album „the sound path” tells the story of this sentiment.
born in the high north of germany and now a berlin resident, ralf schmidt aka aera first appeared on the electronic music map when he established his own aleph music label back in 2010. with only a handful of releases, aera was able to lay out his very own musically topography on the cutting edges between house, psychedelia and breakbeats. this colourful mix culminated on his debut album „offseason traveller” in 2013, resonating the past forty years of electronic music, which brought him the attention of a wider audience as well as fellow djs and producers. so it was a logical consequence that his talent also attracted other labels and lead to widely praised releases on innervisions, maeve or john talabot’s hivern discs. with these, aera’s sound bloomed further into bubbly acid and trancey territorries and his fine reputation as a singular producer, travelling dj and remixer flourished. with „the sound path” aera continues his musical travels and permanent vacation is gladly hitchhiking on that ride. his second album is the most coherent and definitely most personal work to date. here, he has perfected his sound even further - adding nuances from the meadows of new age, kraut cliffs and high-flying kites of ambient. complete with the cinematic and nature-esque qualities of ralf’s music, it will draw you in deeply through a great variety of landscapes before your inner eye. however, you’ll never lose track, because this path is beautifully illuminated.

louie vega joins forces with the martinez brothers and revered salsa singer hector lavoe this february for shut the door. the martinez brothers have rapidly become two of the most in demand djs and producer across the globe and here we see them make a welcome return to their cuttin headz imprint for one of their most accomplished projects to date. collaborating with the infamous house aficionado and one half of masters at work, louie vega whilst the vocal additions come courtesy of puerto ricos hector lavoe, one of the most revered salsa singers in the history of the genre. the tmblv main mix of shut the door opens, offering a refined house feel fuelled by smooth chord swells and organic percussion as hector lavoe’s vocal contributions ebb and flow through the rolling groove. a tmblv main instrumental follows, stripping away the vocal contributions to the heady groove alone. the martinez brothers up-tempo energy fuelled production then shines through on the tmblv beats mix offering their dynamic and intricate drum arrangement style whilst the processing the latin vocals from hector lavoe showcases louie vegas finessed additions to the composition. lastly a tmblv beats instrumental closes, again tipping the focus solely over to the swinging drums and snaking subs

octave one announce their new album under the much loved random noise generation guise. the first rng release was falling in dub in 1991 and sounding just as fresh 27 years later, endustry is due for release this spring. something of a new take on their creative process the burden brothers made most of this music on the road while they toured over the past year, using the country they were in at each time they recorded to influence and inspire each track. we were tucked away in so many hotel rooms that we decided to make sure we brought enough extra equipment so that we could set up a true lab to create from country to country and make the grooves that we wanted to experiment with on the dance floor. comments lawrence. this body of work encompasses 7 full length cuts, naturally all with that classic octave one emotion. alkaylze, more than any of tracks on this project, embraced the original spirit of random noise generation in so much as the machine seemed to be really guide the creative process. adds lenny much of the foundation of the composition was very accidental, but inspirational, with various musical devices interpreting data in a very unexpected results. it actually came together quite quickly but things just fell into place so naturally. after touring and making music for decades the spirit and essential energy of the craft is what keeps them eternally inspired to keep creating and touring the globe. once it takes hold of you you cant stop even if you wanted to. says the pair, and so endustry is born.

somewhere between dub and space lies the work of unknown wonders, like the one created by normal stage. a1 starts like part of a typhoon taking everything in it’s path. the pounding sub will crunch the dancefloor vibeing towards the core of the nervous system. the tunnel is open: b1 will open a star gate through precise push and pull movements. there is light at the end, but the trip is long. it’s a time travel where senses are altered. b2 takes us back to the ground where it all started. heavy basslines and lush pads are chanting in celestial ambiance. the drum of earth is the heart of the dance, a ritual for all things normal.

ichisan s 2017 aperitiv was so good that we ve decided to return for a second helping from his sumptuous album. four choice cuts have been selected and reworked with a specific instrument focus. the harpsicord version of -hotel- keeps the intoxicating melody of the original but allows beats to relax as notes shine with an incandescent brilliance. drums put their feet up for the rhodes version of -modri tunel.- deep stings and lounging lines mingle in this work of smoke swirling seduction. -kozmetika (trumpet version)- dances to a different tune. rich bass is again central but this time brash and bold brass intertwine with funk filled bars. the last waltz arrives with the piano version of -terminal e.- alluring notes ascend, rising and falling against heartwrenching guitar strings for a finale to end this ballroom inspired beauty.

spencer parker readies the third and final remix package of different shapes and sizes this april featuring remixes from radio slave, italojohnson and nic fanciulli. concluding the series featuring dj deep, fett burger, rising sun, tijana t, setaoc mass and akirahawks, ep03 includes three artists that have long been close to spencer parker. radio slave has released parker s music via rekids for over a decade, whilst nic fanciulli s saved has hosted multiple records, like parker s debut album. spencer s relationship with italojohnson also stretches years including the trio s first remix (a spencer parker release on tsuba) and appearances at work them records showcases. radio slave s remix of information deviation is an ominous techno cut complete with eerie atmospherics, fuzzy melodies and rattling hats whilst a robotic vocal operates on top. italojohnson then remodel size:yes to generate a moody house number featuring cosmic synths and twisted effects, leading into nic fanciulli s rumbling rendition of riff shapes .

black truffle is pleased to make oren ambarchi’s grapes from the estate available once more on vinyl. originally released on cd on touch in 2004 and reissued on southern lord as a limited double lp in 2006 during ambarchi’s tenure as a member of sunn o))), grapes from the estate was a landmark release for ambarchi, seeing him expand his sonic palette beyond the clipped, bass-heavy electric guitar tones he was known for at that point. incorporating subtle layers of strings, keyboards, percussion over a bedrock of his signature guitar tones, in retrospect this album can be seen as the beginning of a broadening and evolution in ambarchi’s work that would lead to his acclaimed, densely layered epics for editions mego, quixotism (2014) and hubris (2016).

the berlin based gel abril kicks off his new closed circuits label in a full form presenting a strong record by talented polish artist oskar szafraniec, a crafted producer, known by his latest 12” on rawax with ricardo villalobos, eps on murge recordings, cyclo or collaborations with pier bucci. for the debut release on closed circuits, oskar has collaborated with the swedish very addictive duo and has delivered his best work to date, a music piece called “borderline”, filled with lush vocals and hypnotic pads that kicks the label with a proper bang.
on the a side - the label boss himself, gel abril, turning “borderline” into a burner, with his very own distinctive groove and effected vocals, surely to be one of the main tracks for 2018! on the flip side, already mentioned original mix of “borderline” and another collaboration by oskar, this time with legendary chilean master pier bucci, bringing minimalistic experimental goodness, perfect for those special after hour moments we all love. gel abril said: “listening to borderline for the first time it just blew my mind and gave me that goosebumps feeling you rarely get with most of music out there these days, i felt very inspired remixing such an magnificent vocal, it is one for the books!”

wonderful 70s work from tom ze! the record’s a bit more straightforward than some of his other records from the decade, and has a number of tracks with a samba sound at the base – but there’s more than enough fantastic material to keep the record fresh, and tom’s writing is as great as ever. there’s a vocal group that sings with ze on many of the tracks on the record – but they also seem to sometimes act as a greek chorus, in response to breakaway vocal passages that are dominated by ze. includes the excellent baroque funky number “dor e dor”, plus the tracks “sonho colorido de um pintor”, “a baba”, “o sandalo”, “a briga do edificio italia com o hilton hotel”, and “happy end”. pressing on 180 gram vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve.

keeping up a high rate and high quality of release, dan mela and dodi palese s what ever not label serves up a second ep of 2018, this time from the esteemed simone gatto with a special remix from voiski. italian gatto is now based in lecce, south italy, where he co-runs his out-er label, which since 2010 has become synonymous with house and techno that challenges the norm. his own productions find new life in the underground, roaming between labels like night vision, raw waxes and his own pregnant void. most recently he served up a two-part album, heaven inside your frequencies , which combined dark ambient, techno and abstract sound with his professional work as a researcher and came with a book that offered a theoretical and practical analysis of the use of sounds and frequencies. this new ep is another arresting affair that lays out gatto s unique and varied vision for club music across three very different tracks. it opens with no regrets , which pairs blissful ambient synths that lift you up into the skies with busy, bristling hi hats and gnarly bass. thumping drums drive the whole thing along, and the interplay between coarseness and serenity is truly original. frenchman, dekmantel and sheik n beik records man vioski then brings all his scintillating techno skills to the table for a remix. it journeys deep into a cosmic night sky, with sheet metal percussion peeling off the groove as an uplifting synth brings a subtle sense of euphoria to the mix.

biosphere is the main recording name of geir jenssen, a norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient electronic music. he is well known for his works on ambient techno and arctic themed pieces, his use of music loops, and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. his 1997 album substrata was voted by the users of the hyperreal website in 2001 as the best all-time classic ambient album. the hilvarenbeek recordings are based on field recordings from the dutch farm biologische boerderij t schop in hilvarenbeek. the work was commissioned by incubate festival in tilburg.

for years nathan church has been cutting up floors in his native bilbao. recently the basque man s attention has turned from the dj booth to the studio. under his wldv (we love dolce vita) this iberian electronic inspiration has cast long shadows and brightened rooms with his blend of horror score intensity and disco exuberance. wldv arrives at the bordello with a four tracker of serious intent. sepulchral and sinister synthlines characterise a dying feast, nowhere more than in the haunting samples and clean drums of -a bucket of blood-. cold chords gleam with icy menace while crisp claps punctuate the entrancing funk of -danza macabra-. ecclesia toys with set parameters, exploring what lurks in the twilight between terror and titillation. this flirtation with the divine and the profane is plain to hear in the uneasy elegance and uplifting elation of -far, far away-, a work of steady kicks, unsettling extracts and soaring strings. this -feast- ends on a delectable note. keys dance and spiral in the intoxicating -laying down on cosmic dust-, an enthralling end to and enthralling ep.
